Acrylic on Canvas.
I made some changes before I stopped. It has shocked me. When I worked with the coloured squares I didn’t think limiting the palette would have such an impact on the finished piece. Feels like a real throwback painting because the colour is so 60’s psychedelia, but it also looks (like the previous two poppy paintings) like something from Star Wars. Yet it does what I wanted it to do – it carries the identity of the central area of stamens and pollen, the sexual vitality of the flower attracting pollinators, the colour of the turquoise and red in the poppy centre.
