BRotS#50 Sea Through

£500.00

Growing out of the series exploring colour and texture in the rotting sea defences at Cuckmere Haven and Seaford’s Splash Point this new group of works springs from further =down Seaford’s seafront in a set of Steps descending to the beach. The concrete, like the concrete in the sea defences, uses shingle from the beach injecting colour into the greys and leading to a full-one exploration of interactions between colour and texture inspired by but only loosely referencing the steps.

The large canvas resulting from this is now in a private collection so no longer available

Description

BRotS#50 ‘Sea Through’. Pebbles break the plates apart as well as rattling through like machine gin bullets, leaving holes through which chalk and the sea can be seen. Acrylic with oil pastel additions on 300gsm paper. Paper is primed with 3 coats of gesso primer. Underpainting changes base colour over which paint colours are layered with a pronged tool. It scrapes allowing layers of underpainting to show through. Some highlighting added with oil pastels, whole glazed to protect. Available in a beech frame for an extra £25
